"No kidding." I laugh again, shaking my head. "So is that what you were always planning to be, or...?"

"No actually. I did work for the ministry, then Flourish and Blotts. But before all of that I was offered a deal to play Keeper for the Holyhead Harpies."

"That's impressive," I raise my eyebrows. "Why'd you turn it down?" I glance at the kids, almost having forgotten that they're here.

I point to Jenny, Zoe and Ashlyn. "I had them already, figuring it wasn't wise to travel with them so small."

"Probably not," I nod, wanting to ask if she regrets it but realizing I probably shouldn't with her kids right there. "So what did you do for the Ministry?"

"Misuse of muggle items." I say with a lack of excitement.

"Ah... that sounds fascinating," I nod, raising my eyebrows.

"I know such a joy, that I quit after a month." I say with a slight laugh. "I did work at Flourish and Blotts up until my teaching job."

"And was that... fun... at all, or just something to do?" I ask. "Sorry about the interrogation, but I haven't got a clue what I'll do with my own life."

"Well, for me it was. I love to read. In my free time, which I don't have much of anymore." I say with a smile. "I have to be boring you. Listening to a professor talk of her past, and how fast she's aging."

I laugh slightly, shaking my head. "You're not that old... and no, you're not boring me."

"Well, I'm turning twenty-two soon." I say with a shrug. "Do you like my mommy?" Jenny asks with a grin.

"Right... because that's just ancient," I nod, rolling my eyes slightly. Then I raise my eyebrows at the little girl. "Well enough. Why?"

I stare at her. Jenny leans over. "I mean like like her. Curiousity."

I laugh slightly, raising my eyebrows again and glancing over at Shelby. "You won't be offended if I say no, right?"

Jenny glares at him, going back to her ice cream. "Jenny why did you glare at Fitzy?" I ask.

I raise my eyebrows yet again, a little taken aback and waiting for the answer to that myself.

"Nothing mommy." she says throwing another glare at him.

I frown a bit now, wondering what I could possibly have done to provoke a seven-year-old. "So you glare at people frequently for no reason at all? That must make a lot of friends."

"I don't need friends..." she says crossing her arms. I just sigh.

"True enough," I shrug, crossing my arms in imitation of her and leaning back. "I got by without them for a while. Once you actually have them it's hard to see how you could stand it before, but as long as you're alone you're not necessarily lonely." I shrug again. "On the other hand, it isn't very smart to antagonize people."

She rolls her eyes and just looks at the table.

"You know what?" I narrow my eyes at her. "You're impossible, and I think I'm going to tlk to one of your siblings or your mother now, since you won't tell me why you have a problem with me."

"Fine by me." she says coldly, still staring at the table. I stand up and take Fitzy by the arm pulling him gently to a far off distance from where the kids were sitting. "I think she has a little crush on you." I say to him with a weak smile.

"She's only seven." I say shaking my head. "It's better than me liking you isn't it?"

I raise my eyebrows thoughtfully, shrugging. "In a way... but still somewhat disturbing, simply because she is seven." I shrug again.

I laugh a little. "Well there was about 10 years between my parents." I say with the same shrug.

I shake my head, not entirely sure whether to laugh or not. "Again... quite disturbing." I look over at Jenny again. "So is it customary for little girls with crushes to glare hatefully at the subjects of said crushes?" I ask, wondering if her interpretation of the small person's behavior is correct.

"In her case yes." I say softly. "Jenny is different than most girls."
