I walk up to Owens Manor, the baby bundled up in a bunch of blankets, sleeping soundly in my arms. We'd finally been able to bring him home, but before I went home I wanted to show him to Charlie. I pull the blanket closer around his small body, as I use my other hand to knock softly on the door. I smile weakly, brushing the hair lightly of his forehead. "My little miracle." I whisper quietly.

I rest my head against the door for a moment, closing my eyes as I try and work out whether I want to open it or go back upstairs and sit in my room, pretending I'm not home. I sigh softly against the wood, then pull back the door, "Hey there how may I help y-...?" I fall silent again as my eyes fall on Maddie and the bundle in her arms, "Oh shit," I breathe softly.

"Hiya stranger," I grin weakly up at him,"Ready to meet your god-son?" I ask, stepping inside away from the cold December air.

"I was born ready," I attempt a weak grin, closing the door quietly behind her as she steps inside.

I smile softly, heading over towards the couch and sitting down, careful not to wake him up. "He's asleep," I mutter,"That's all they ever really do, isn't it?"

"Sleep and cry, and attend to bodily functions," I agree, sitting down next to her.

"I'm not going to be able to sleep in anymore, am I?" I ask quietly, unwrapping the blanket so Charlie could get a better look at him,"Look at him Charlie," I mutter quietly,"He's so tiny."

"Pfft, nope, never," I grin softly, then lean closer to her so I can see better, "Oh wow, look at him."

"I'm really going to miss that," I laugh softly, brushing his hair off his forehead lightly. He looks just like Ian, same little face and brown hair. "Never knew they were this small,"

"It's so worth it though," I smile, "I know, right? Tiny." I watch him for a long time, before managing eventually, "He looks like his father." I'm almost surprised how I manage to keep my voice level, although I don't think I could if I had to say it again.

"Real tiny," I nod,"I think he's smaller then my old rag doll I used to have when I was six." I laugh weakly. "Yeah, he does, doesn't he?" I smile, holding him closer. He gives a little yawn, before slowly opening his eyes and looking up at the two of us. I grin,"Look, he's got the Speare's eyes."

"I remember the rag doll," I smile, "Didn't it end up in a tree more than once?" I shake my head to clear it of random memories because they're not all that appropriate right now. I grin, breaking into a small gentle dance on the sofa next to her, careful not to jog her, "Go Speares!"

"Yeah, you, Jack and Davey liked to play keep away a lot," I laugh weakly rocking him gently back and forth,"Yeah, welcome to the Speare's family, baby." I whisper.

"We were harsh bullies," I joke softly, then smile at the baby, "Yeah, sorry if you got too many Speares genes, you have no hope of sanity."

"Evil, evil demon children," I grin slightly."Yeah, well we already know his attention snap is going to be uber short," I laugh weakly."Want to hold him?"

I grin back, "You're such a mum." Then gently take him from her, it'd been a long time since I'd held a baby, so I take him very carefully, "Hello there Alex, welcome to the family," I laugh softly.

"Yeah, that'd be pretty cool," I agree softly even though she isn't talking to me. I stay silent a minute, "He's perfect MJ. He really is."

Having two of them? You really think you could have handled that? I smile weakly,"Yeah, he is. Isn't he?"

I grin, "More than perfect even." He'd be more perfect if he was nothing to do with... I stop myself from thinking that as if she'll know if I do. Alex somehow reminds of Jen though. Simply because he's so small and so perfect and because I'm so attatched to him already and my thought process ends up the same way and I have to close my eyes very tightly for a moment.

"You think I'll be okay in this whole' being a mum' thing?" I ask quietly, then stop noticing his eyes were shut tight. I rest my head on his shoulder, knowing he must be thinking about Jen."Charlie," I mumble quietly,"I'm sorry."

"You'll do great," I reply, voice no more than a whisper. The pain is nearly crippling, so I keep my eyes closed so tightly that coloured spots dance in front of my eyes and wait for it to pass. But I know it won't, somehow.

I gently take his hand, wishing I could do something, but realize now, why he hates Ian. I don't hate either of them, but I can see now, that they'll never really get along.

I drop her hand again, not quite able to take it, getting up and handing her back Alex, "I-...drink...want one?" I ask, unable to meet her eyes.
