Knowing very well she could possibly have her Head Girl duties taken away from her right now, or even worse, get expelled, Lily followed Professor McGonagall into the room.
"Ms. Evans, what in the world happened back there?" McGonagall asked, crossing her arms, and a very strict look on her face.
"Thorn made a not-so-nice remark about my friend, and I over reacted." Lily lied. Lying to a professor... you might as well hand in your Head Girl badge now, Lily she told herself.

I was eazdropping on their conversation. 'What did she do? She never does anything.' I mutter to myself.

"Well obviously! By the time I got there that poor girl had a bloody nose, and merlin knows what else! Imaginge what would've happened I didn't show up?" Professor McGonagall exclaimed.
"I'm sorry, Professor." Lily said quietly, her eyes set on the ground.
"You should be! This is very unlike you, Ms. Evans." She said, her expression not changed a bit.
Lily didn't know what to say to this. She kept her eyes on the ground.
"I don't know what to do about this, Lily. You've never acted out like this before, so the consequences should't be TO severe, but a muggle duel is a big offence." McGonagall said. "I'm afraid you'll need to turn in your Head Girl badge."
Now, Lily had been expecting this, but it still came as a big shock. "What?!?!" She shouted, flinging her head up from the spot on the ground she had been staring at.

I gasped, still listening. I wish i could go in there and just stand up for her. I cursed myself under under my breath

Lily heard a quiet gasp outside the door, but choose not to act on it. "Bu-bu-but Professor! My badge... my temper.." She studdered, searching for the right words. She had gotten herself into this, but for a cause. She knew she did the right thing in taking the blame for her friend.
"I'm sorry Lily, but in being Head Girl you need to know and abide by the rules." McGonagall said, her face softening a tad, and holding out her hand.
With a heavy sniff, and a dry sob, trying to hold back tears, Lily reached for her Head Girl badge, pinned to her robe and with shaking hands, unfastened it...

Flinging her head around, Lily saw Serry standing there. Why is Serry here? She wasn't there at the time... I don't think... Lily thought.
"Ms. Smith, this doesn't concern you." McGonagall said, her hand still outstretched.
"Serry, no!" Lily mouthed, not wanting another one of her friends to get into trouble.

"Ms. Smith, I believe my choices on consequences are up to me, not my students." McGonagall said, now dropping her hand. "Now if you would kindly leave and allow me to finish this so Ms. Evans can be on her way...
Lily felt as if her feet were planted right there in the ground. She didn't know what to do at all. Part of her wanted to hand in her badge right then and there, and be the good friend she was trying to be. But another part wanted to say how it really isn't her fault at all. She was completely confused.

I looked down. 'It wasnt her.' I said aloud. Frankly it wasnt me either but i'll help Lil. 'It was me Professor.' i said looking up.

"No!" Lily shouted. "It wasn't Serry, It wasn't me! It was M- A person I'd rather not say." She said. "She said that to cover up for me, who tried to cover up for a friend." Lily said, hoping with all she has that McGonagall wouldn't ask who the friend is.
Rubbing her forehead, McGonagall said "This is all to confusing, you two are free to go."
Lily's mouth seemed to drop in shock. Was this really McGonagall? Letting them off like that? Quickly gathering her senses, she fastened her badge back to her robe, and ran over to Serry. "I'm still Head Girl!" She shouted, hugging her like there was no tomorrow.

I hugged her back. 'Good, cause i think your the best Head Girl.' I said laughing. 'Other ones would rat on my when im out i little late.' I said smiling

"Yes, yes, now both of you, please go before I change my mind. McGonagall said, and turned to her desk.
"Come on!" Lily said, grabbing Serry's wrist and running out of the classroom.
"My badge! It's mine again!" Lily said, smiling big, and pretending to hug her badge.
