I sat slumped down at my desk in detention, there was something wrong.
Most people knew it.
I wasn't myself lately.
I wasn't myself anymore.
I wasn't the same old Jo anymore.
I was losing control and there was nothing I could do.
The shame was eating me from the inside out, I was falling to pieces and nobody knew why or how to make it go away.
Hardly anyone knew I was feeling this way anyway.
Just the few people that had encountered me those few days after I'd found out, the few people that had ever seen me cry, they knew something was wrong.
For everyone else I'd keep smiling this fake smile.
But not now.
There was no need now.
I was in detention on my own, no need to fake smile on my own.
I could fall apart without having to pretend I wasn't on my own.

I walk into detention not even remembering what it was that I did to be here. I sit in a chair and see a girl "Hey, You ok?" I see noticing (Sp?) that she does't seem to happy.

I repeat what I'd just said. "It was bollocks." I add. "I'm not going to let them speak that way and get away with it."
