Adrienne played with her food; using her fork to shove scrambled eggs back and forth on her plate. She heard the constant chatter of the Gryffindor's behind her table. Resisting the urge of turning around and asking, 'Can you please shut up?', she took a sip of her pumpkin juice. Why had she even came to breakfest anyway? She sighed and shoved her plate away. There wasn't really anything exciting going on at all in her life. She hoped maybe this year that things would be different from the past six. Something would change anything and everything. Addie snapped out of all her thoughts when she thought of an idea. Maybe this would be a lot more fun than sitting in the common room drawing. She grabbed a near by plate of oatmeal and threw it at someone after screaming, "Food fight!"

I looked up from my book when someone screamed food fight and before I knew it, I had a bowl of oatmeal all over me. The one day I choose that maybe I'll get up and try to feel like myself again, I get hit with food. Before I knew it, there was food flying everywhere, something that I suspected would happen eventually. I ducked slightly, as I saw some eggs fly in my direction and grabbed a bagel throwing it back the direction the eggs came from.

Addie started to grin at the mayham she had already started. She started to try and dodge the bowl of cereal coming her way. With a crash from the plates here and there she had already made her way over to a guy she thought her bowl of oatmeal had hit. He looked sort of down. Slightly confused as to why he wasn't enjoying the fight while he could, she frowned. "You okay?" She asked lightly after he threw the bagel.

I looked over to the girl who had just came over to me. She looked familar, but I didn't know, thinking I must've seen her in the common room before. "Uh.. I-I'm.. sort of, but no, not really." I told her shaking my head slightly, and then moved her out of the way when I saw a pancake with syrup all over it come flying toward her.

Addie stumbled slightly when he pushed her but quickly regained posture and pulled him in front of her when the plate was close to hitting him. The plate of pancakes hit a Slytherin and Addie gave a light laugh. She looked at the guy and tilted her head. 'This wan't her business...' was what she always told herself. He seemed really down though. "Wanna talk about it?" She asked softly.

"Thanks" I say as I see the plate fly past me, watching as it hit a Slytherin, I couldn't help but laugh a little with a light smile, which was rarely seen lately and then turned back to her shaking my head slightly, "T-that's okay... I-I barely know you.... Actually I don't know you at all. You don't want to hear my problems." I told her before ducking as a bagel came flying at me, having it hit a small first year, feeling kind of back for him. If she really did want to hear, I would tell, but I already know the reaction she'll have, what she'll say, everything. I pretty much had it down to a tee by now.

Addie frowned even more at her rudeness. "I'm sorry. May not make a difference but I'm Adrienne. If you don't want to thats fine too...." She said trailing off. "I'll listen if your willing to talk though." She watched the food fly past them and tried to dodge a a muffin but failed, it hitting her in the leg before falling to the ground.

"I'm Riley." I told her, feeling kind of bad for how he had talked to her a few moments before, "No.. don't be sorry.. I'm sorry, I-I'm just kind of.. I don't even know what'd I'd call it.." I shook my head slightly, "I'll tell you if you want me to.. I-I just don't want to make you if you don't wanna."

Addie gave a slight nod. "Like I said, I'm willing to listen. I hate when people are down. Escpacially when they can't enjoy beautiful food fights like this," She said with a small smile. She gestured to the double doors. "You wanna talk where we aren't in danger of flying food?"

I smiled slightly when she said something about the food fight and chuckled a little bit, "Umm... no, I like the noise." I say shaking my head slightly, "This's gonna sound weird, but can we just go under the table?" I asked her, not wanting to leave to go somewhere quiet because it would just make my mind wander even more. The food fight was a good distraction.

Addie laughed lightly. "Sure," She said and bent down to climb under the Ravenclaw table. Food was all over the floor and people were still throwing. Everyone was having fun and thats what she wanted. She sat under the table and waited for Riley to begin.

I sat under the table next to Adrienne, still hearing a the noise, but it being more muffled than if they were sitting at the table and not below it. "It's.. It's just, my.. fianceé's.. g-gone." I said slowly, still not being able to use the word die and thinking he probably wouldn't be able to for a while.

Addie frowned and furrowed her brow. Sorry wouldn't cut it. Everyone used those words. She opened her mouth to say something but closed it because she couldn't find the words. Instead she just gave him a hug. Hugging wasn't really her thing but words couldn't describe how she felt so she hopped all her words would go into this hug. She pulled away slowly. "I know how it feels to l- lose someone important to you." She thought of her parents. A memory of watching her house burn down flashed quickly in her head but she shook it away and looked at Riley.

I hugged her back slightly as she hugged me. "T-Thanks.." I said quietly, "I didn't know I could ever feel like this... Sorry you had to go through it too."

"It takes time." I'm still not completely over it, Addie added mentally. "I get through it though. It was actually my parents that di- I lost." She changed the words quickly but said it softly.

My face softened and I shook my head slightly, "I'm sorry.. That must've been horrible.." I tell her, looking over to her.

"My brother, he helped me get through it." Addie admitted. Her brother was all she had. They were so young and all they needed was each other. "Yesterday is the past and I'm trying to focus on today. I just don't think about it much," She said with a small shrug.

I nodded my head slightly, "I guess that's a good thing to do." I say after listening to what she said. "I-I can't seem to do that."

"It's hard. Just don't take the depression to extremes," Addie said lowly, wondering if she knew what he meant.

"Hurting yourself or maybe suicide?" Addie mumbled. In her opinion it was sort of silly but not when it came to the real thing. Her bother tried it once. He was more messed up about it then she was.

"O-oh.." I say frowning, fidgeting sightly with my shirt, looking away from her. I had seriously considered it for a past few days, since it had happend. Especially with her ghost here, which seemed to almost make it worse, even though I could still talk to her, I couldn't touch or hug her, kiss her. Nothing.

Addie closed her eyes and let out a long sigh. She opened them suddenly and hit his arm. "Don't be stupid! She wants you to live I'm positive. She loved you enough to marry you and she would probably say the same thing. Damn suicide," She muttered the last two words.

"I know... She told me she did... came, came back as a ghost..." I say quietly, tracing a couple circles on my knee, having them still scrunched up against my chest, "We never got married.. d-died before we could."

Addie bit her lip softly. "S- sorry. I didn't know," she said softly. She wished she knew how to comfort him, but she barely knew him.
