Rose wandered into the Funeral, not sure if it was really appropriate for her to be here. It was empty at the moment, but she hung at the back wall for a moment, more to brace herself than anything else. Slipping her hands into her pockets, she forced herself forward, eyes wandering briefly over the other coffins but settling on Jacks. Empty. A surge of unjust anger tightened in her chest, eyes stinging and blurring with tears. He promised he'd be there, he promised he would not die and leave her...he lied. Not only that, but he was so unreliable he couldn't even be there for his funeral. So she couldn't even see him just once more. She knew it was unfair to think that, but she couldn't help it. Her fingers folded into slender fists in her pockets in frustration, but the tear that slid down her cheek was more out of misery than anger. "Bye Jack," She said softly, taking one hand from her pocket and skating it lightly over the smooth wooden surface of the coffin, "I'll miss you."

"We're all going to miss him Rose." Kaleb says quietly from behind her. He hoisted Allie higher in his arms as he walked towards the empty coffin. Allie had been quiet the whole time they had been there, it was if she had known this wasn't a place where you could be happy."I'm sorry Rose." He mutters."I'm sorry I couldn't protect him."

"It's not your fault Kaleb," She said very quietly, not turning round to look at him, just keeping her hand on the cool wood of the empty coffin. She didn't want to turn round and look at him, she wouldn't have anyone else see her cry.

"It is," Kaleb mutters, lowering his head,"I'm suppose to look out for them, not get them killed." Allie raises her small hands to her father's face,"Don't cry daddy, Uncle JackJack doesn't like it when you cry." She reminds him. Kaleb laughs bitterly,"Yeah, okay baby."

"Kaleb," She said softly, "It was beyond your control. You'd do anything, I know you would, so it must have been beyond your control." She stiffens slightly, hearing a voice she doesn't recognise that obviously belongs to a small child, and quickly brushes her own tears away. She definitely did not want to cry now.

"It should have been me." Kaleb whispers,"It should have been me."

"No," She mumbled, shaking her head, "No, it shouldn't. He'd rather him than you."

"He was 22." Kaleb mutters, setting Allie on the ground,"He had his whole life ahead of him, he shouldn't have died like that. Murdered...that's not the way he wanted to go."

She made a small choking sound by accident, between a sob and sarcastic laugh, before saying louder than she intended, "He didn't want to go at all. He said he wouldn't." She sighed slightly, wrapping her arms round herself, before adding quieter, "He promised he wouldn't."

Kaleb watches her for a few moments, realizing she was taking it harder then anyone else. Knowing he should say something, he can't. His legs won't move and no words are coming to mind. All he could do was stand there. His daughter wasn't just about to stand there. Allie makes her way over to Rose taking her hand,"Don't be sad. JackJack's playing with my mummy. Don't be sad."

Rose looked down, startled, then moved to her knees so she was the same height as her, "Okay then, no being sad," She agreed softly, "Think they're happy? JackJack and your mummy?"

Allie nods,"Yupp. JackJack's probably making my mummy smile right now. He can always make people smile," She turns round slightly to look at Kaleb,"Right daddy?" Kaleb nods slightly, swallowing the lump in his throat."Right baby. He can always put a smile on someone's face."

Rose dips her head slightly, hiding her eyes which were tightly closed in the effort to stop more tears, before forcing herself to look up again, "Yes, of course he can-...could-...is-..."

Alllie smiles slightly before Kaleb walks over picking her up,"Your a good girl sweetie, Uncle Jack would be proud." Kaleb mutters.

Rose stayed knelt down for a moment, before forcing herself to her feet again, forcing a very fake and very often used smile onto her face once more, "You never told me you had a daughter, Kaleb."

"Just found out," He mumbles, hoisting her higher into his arms, as she rests her head on his shoulder,"Remember Jess?" He asks,"She's ours."

"She looks a lot like her mum," Kaleb mumbles, brushing the hair back off her forehead as she buries her head into his shoulder.

She nods, not sure what to say to that, "What's her name?"

"I'm Allie." She mumbles against Kaleb's shoulder. "Her mum named her," He mutters quietly. "Did you know my Unlce JackJack?" Allie asks, looking up at Rose.

"That's a pretty name," She smiled but her smiled faltered then disappeared almost immediately, especially at her next question. "Yes, I knew your Uncle JackJack," Her voice wavered very slightly at his name, but she managed to keep it together for the most part.

"I'm this many," Allie says, holding up two fingers and holding them out to Rose. Kaleb watches Rose, guilt increasing as he saw her reaction when Jack was mentioned. Tihs is your fault! Nathan's voice was still clear in his head, and for once he actually agreed with him. It was his fault. "Did you like my Unlce JackJack?"Allie asks, tilting her head to the side.

"That many, huh?" She tried to smile, "Well aren't you grown up?" Her throat tightened, and she moved her shaking hands into her pockets out of habit, and she nodded, "Yes. I loved your Uncle JackJack."

"Not that grown up," Kaleb smiles weakly, hoisting her higher into his arms. Kaleb smile falters, and he feels as if a bludger had been shoved down his throat."Have you talked to Scott?" Kaleb asks, being reminded that Jack and Scott had played beaters together.

She forced a weak smile, nodding slightly, "Talked to him a lot lately," She pauses a moment, then adds quietly, "He left this morning. He didn't say where he was going. He didn't tell me either. Left a note saying he was going away, and he'd write. So I know he won't." She forced herself to look back up at Kaleb with a weak smile, as if the smile would cover the ache that everyone was leaving, everyone was leaving her and she was scared.

"So I'm guessing Scott's heard the news too, huh?" Kaleb asks quietly, setting the squirming Allie back onto the ground, "I liked Uncle Scotty." Allie announces, then turns to look at Rose, "He and Uncle JackJack would be passed out on the front lawn a lot and Auntie RowRow and Auntie Teeny would let me help turn on the sprinklers. Kaleb lets out a weak laugh at the nicknames all his cousins and siblings had been given then stops recalling Jack was the one to name them all.

"Yes, he heard," She nods, speaking quietly still, "Times like those, wish he could cry like a normal person. Instead he has to break his fingers punching a wall until he can't do it anymore." She smiles weakly at Allie, "That sounds like Uncle Scotty and Uncle JackJack alright. Silly boys."

Kaleb's smile falters slightly,"I know how much Jack meant to Scott," It was true. Jack was really the only friend Scott ever had. Must of torn him up to find out he was gone. "Yeah, really silly." She nods,"Did Uncle Scotty leave too?"

"A whole lot," She agreed softly. "Yes he did. But he did say he'd come back sometime," Rose smiled very weakly, "So I'm sure he will." But she was lying, Scott probably wouldn't come back. He'd probably be out there right now doing the sort of stupid stunts him and Jack used to do until he got himself either killed or seriously injured because he had no one to back him up.

"I don't know what he must be going through." Kaleb mutters. It was true, Kaleb didn't have a clue how he'd deal with that, losing a friend. A your best friend at that. Losing family was one thing, a friend another. Jack and Scott weren't just friends though, they were brothers. Scott must have felt like a part of him was missing.
