Bella walks up the front steps of the Owens manor. It had felt like years since she had been here. But it had only been a month or two. But she felt like that was far too long to have not seen one of her best friends. She knocked on the door with her knuckles, and waited patiently, not something she did very often. She didn't know why she hadn't been here sooner, her mind was a bit muddled at the moment. It was last night that her mother died and it made her realise that she'd only live once, and that her time was limited. Yes, she was only seventeen, and she had her whole life ahead of her. But there was still a limit. She wasn't going to live forever. She was in a very weird mood, and just needed someone to talk to.

I stumble over to the door, rubbing my eyes blearily with the back of my hand and opening the door to greet whoever it was with a yawn. "Sorry," I mumble, then double-take as I realise who it is, "Bella!" It felt like it'd been forever, although I hadn't really noticed how long it had seemed before. Or how much I'd missed her.

A small smile reaches Bella's face as the door opens, it then turns into a full on grin when she sees him. "Charlie!" She beamed, immediately stepping forwards and wrapping her arms around him, though she couldn't hug him that tightly, the large bump of her stomach seemed to get in the way. "I've missed you!" She smiled, letting go and grinning up at him.

"I missed you too!" I laugh before I realise that I'm laughing for the first time this week, hugging her back as much as I could, "Bloody hell, look at you! You're all...pregnant!"

Bella grinned. "I am indeed" She laughed slightly. "It was probably more of a shock to me than it was to anyone else." She added her smile faultering a little, but only a little. "How are you?" She asked afterwards. "I haven't seen you in so long." She smiled.

"I've been...uh, well I've been surviving," I force a weak smile, uncomfortable once again, like I was whenever the topic was brought round to how I'd been lately. "But yeah, wow, pregnant, that's incredible," I beam, "I'm very happy for you, but you should come in out of the cold before you freeze."

Bella noticed how weak his smile was, she felt awful. She hadn't been around when Jack died. She hadn't helped, but at the same time, she had been saved from further grief in her life. When she had heard she did cry, she cried a lot. But not as much as she would have done if she had been around. "Thanks." She smiled in reply and stepped into his house. "Only one month to go." She said, looking down at her stomach. "I'm a bit scared really." She added honestly.

"Only a month, wow," I say, wondering vaguely how many times I've said wow in the conversation so far and how many times I'll say it again, "I think it'd be silly not to be scared really," I agree, "But don't worry about it. It'll be okay, right?" Because it has to be. "Is it a boy or a girl?" I grin, feeling stupidly happy about this for some reason.

"Hopefully. If it all goes to plan, and nothing goes wrong." Bella sighed. "But something always goes wrong, doesn't it?" She added, smiling grimly. "I don't know yet. I want it to be a surprise." She replied, brightening up.

"It seems that way, so it's time that something goes right," I smile reassuringly, "Power of positive thinking, Bella. Does wonders." Original Charlie. You're one to talk about positive thinking. I grin, "A good surprise of course."

"Yeah, i really should start thinking more positively." Bella smiled. You're going to be a mum soon. She liked that idea. Liked it now more than before. "Of course." She grinned, knowing it would be a good surprise. "I still haven't thought of any names." She added with a guilty look.

I grin, excited for her just because I could be, then laugh. "Well, maybe when you see him or her, the name will just come to you?" I suggest.

Bella grinned, it was easy to be happy around Charlie. She didn't have to try, and she was tired of trying. "Yeah maybe. But i hope not, otherwise it would end up with a ridiculous name." She laughed.

I laugh, "I think that you should name them the first word you think of, so they could end up being called Gouda Cheese Knox or something."

"Oh God no! Think of the poor kid. He or she would get bullied so much. I wouldn't be able to do that to them." Bella said, laughing quietly. "I think i should start thinking of something nice. A pretty name." She smiled.

I grin, "You're such a mum already." "A pretty name? Like a pretty flower name? Or a pretty rare name? Or...a pretty name?"

Bella smiled widely at his comment. "I guess i've had a bit of practise with looking after Kim." "Just a pretty name, that sounds pretty and has a pretty meaning." She grinned.

"How is Kim?" I ask, feeling slightly guilty that it's taken me this long to ask, "She's doing good?" "So lot's of pretty then?" I laugh softly.

"She's doing great. She can't wait until she has a little brother or sister to play with." Bella replied with a smile. Kim had been very excitable recently, but also very immpatient. Permanently asking Bella when the baby was coming. "Yes, because he or she is going to be beautiful." She replied with a small laugh.

"Would it be okay if I came by to see her sometime? If she remembers me, that is," I ask hesitantly, then grin, "Of course she's excited! Who doesn't want a little sibling to boss about?" I laugh slightly, "Well how could he or she be anything but beautiful?"

"It would be more that okay." Bella grinned. "She's been asking about you aswell. 'Where's Charblie?' Please, come over anytime." She insisted. "That's very true." She laughed softly. "She'll be ordering the poor thing around everywhere." "Well you know, he or she does have me for a mum, so that could mess things up slightly." She joked.

I grin, unable to stop myself because I'm glad that Kim does in fact remember me, "I will do. As soon as possible." "But that's all the fun," I laugh, "My brother and sisters did that all the time, never did me any harm," I twitch. "No way, having you as a mum supports my theory that they will indeed be beautiful, Bella," I smile.

"Great. We'll both be waiting for your next visit, or should i say three. Does he or she count yet?" She asked with a small smile. She laughs loudly. "Yeah i can see that." She grinned. She blushed deeply and looked down at her shoes for a moment. "Thank you." She replied, returning her gaze to him.

"Of course they count," I grin, "I'm all excited now. I don't think you'll ever be rid of me. Just let me know if you ever need a hand or anything. I'm always here, living my non-existant social life." I smile, half wondering whether I should have said that or not, "No problem. Just being honest."

Bella laughed again. "I'll be sure to let you know. I might have to warn you that you might be bombarded with urgent letters and such. Or i might just turn up on your doorstep with crying children and smelly nappies and all that jazz." She joked. "I like honest people." She replied with a small smile.

"Oh really?" I try and keep a straight face as I cross my arms over my chest and raise an eyebrow, "Well, I see how it is then Miss Knox!"
