Jay stood there looking at the coffin, and at Shelby still lifeless body. He took a few steps closer, each time hurting more than the last. He didn't want to admit it. He didn't want it to be real. No...She's not dead. Jay got close enough to where he could grab hold of one of her cold hands and he squeezed it. But this time it didn't squeeze back. Jay looked down at her long slender fingers and saw the engagment ring. "We were supposed to get married...Christmas wedding. Remeber?" He muttered to himself. Or her. He didn't know. He looked over her and then at her stomach. Jay put his hand on it lightly and sighed. "We were supposed to have a baby..." He muttered again. Jay stands there for a few moments just looking at her somber face. "I promise I won't let anything happen to you." Jay winced at his own words said only a week ago. It seemed like a different time. A different era. "I was supposed to protect you..."

Briar sat in the back of the funeral home, her forehead on her knees. She'd came back from her house not too long ago but couldn't bear to look at the body any longer. She heard someone come in and she looked up. Jay. She stayed silent and just watched him carefully.

Jay looked down at her for a few more moments. Just looking down at her. Jay felt a rush of emotions run over him, and he couldn't stand it. He couldn't and wouldn't. Jay squeezed her hand back again. But it laid there in his hand. He felt angry tears form in his eyes. He squeezed again. Nothing. Again. Nothing. "Squeeze back damnit!" He cried softly and let go of her hand, that he just noticed had the engagment ring on it. Jay fell to his knees pulling at his hair lightly, feeling tears fall down his face.

Briar looked at him with a look of pure sympathy. They were engaged to be married, but she had died. She kind of knew what that was like, but then Logan had found some way with dark magic. She sighed, it must be hard for Jay. With one motion, she was standing and walking down to him. "Jay?" She asked quietly once she'd gotten up to him.

Jay heard a girls voice from behind him. He quickly wiped the tears and stood back up looking back at her. jay didn't like to cry. Let alone in front of anyone. He just looked at her, with a blank face.

"Guys are all the same," Briar muttered to herself. She looked at the casket for a moment before saying, "I was in your situation before Jay."

Jay still stood there and jammed his hands in his pockets. How was that supposed to help him. "Oh." Was all he said looking at Briar.
