I shrug, sighing slightly and deciding to say it anyway just to fill the silence. "So my sister's been murdered," I say - thoughtfully, but casual. "The -" I falter slightly, almost saying 'the squib' but thinking better of it. "Trisha. She was murdered in her bed at the Leaky Cauldron, and I still don't remember anything about her." I can't stifle the hint of bitterness at the end there, though I feel rather self-pitying for caring about such a minor tragedy.

"I'm-..." I cut myself off before I can say 'I'm sorry', but then I'm not sure what else to say instead. So I pause for a moment, contemplating a reply, then saying eventually, "How are you holding up?"

I shake my head, shrugging. "It's fine. I mean, like I said I didn't know her. Not that I remember. What's to be upset about, right?"

"Well, maybe not getting the chance to know her," I bite my lip very hard, realising that the question was probably rhetorical and I really need to pay more attention to peoples tone of voice and that is definitely not a good way to make anyone feel better about losing a sibling.

I release a long sigh, then shrug. "Well, yeah, there is that. But I didn't really...." I shrug again. "Lilith is upset. That's the only part that bothers me."

I don't really want to have to verify that Lilith is her other sister as I'm pretty sure she's told me that before so I don't check. "She'll be okay though," I say, although my voice is somewhat lacking in conviction.

I nod. "Yeah, she'll be all right." Unless of course my suspicions are correct and he decides to make a clean sweep of things. I shake my head quickly, but can't get rid of the feeling that maybe I should tell someone before Lilith gets killed too.

"That's not all that's bothering you, is it?" I ask after a moment.

I glance over at him, raising my eyebrows. "Didn't know you were that perceptive."

"You learn something new everyday," I answer dryly.

"Not sure that's really true, but maybe." I shrug.

"Anyway, we digress," I shrug, "Want to talk about what else is bothering you?"

I sigh again, feeling like I've been doing that rather a lot lately, and shrug. "Just suspicions that Fitzy killed Trisha, and if so I ought to warn Lilith because she's Fitzy's sister, too, and we don't seem to be faring all that well at the moment." I shrug again.

"That's...probably a very rational course of action," I nod.

I nod, ironing my face at the moment. "Which means that I have to tell someone what happened... though if the alternative is something happening to Lilith I'm just being an idiot."

"Would you risk something happening to her?" I ask.

"No," I say quietly, shaking my head. "No, I definitely need to tell her.... And probably Andrew and Chance." I wince slightly at that thought, but I know I probably have to.

I nod, managing to offer a very small smile. "I don't see what you could do, but... thanks."

"No, I appreciate it," I nod, trying not to think about the upcoming cheery conversation. I shake my head in annoyance at myself. Am I really so afraid of getting yelled at for stupidity that I'd risk my sister's life?
