I stare at her arm for a few seconds, shocked, then sigh and look away. Dammit... Ellie used to do that and it's just not cool.... I think, remembering the shivery, scared feeling I got when my big sister told me about her depression. Dammit, dammit, dammit... I hate this....
I sigh again. "Rika, why do you do that?" I ask, trying not to let too much exasperation creep into my voice. "Are you upset about something or what?" Stupid question.... I shrug.

I shake my head and sigh again. "I highly doubt you're useless. Maybe... they just couldn't find you," I say, since as I remember it she wound up at the orphanage because she got lost, not abandoned. I try to think of something more reassuring to say, but of course I barely know her so I can't. I shrug.

i come back to the dance after throwing a few things around with my wand in an empty classroom. yeah, that always makes me feel better. i come up and see Rika and some other chick dancing on chairs. 'come on Chance,' i say, 'join the fun.'

I laugh as Rika starts dancing on a chair, ducking my head a little as people turn in our direction, but looking up again when someone says my name. "No," I say, shaking my head and looking at Laura. "You can go ahead, though. Why did you come back?"
