I walked outside into what seemed to be a courtyard. There were people in large groups laughing and talking. I wished to be one of them. I wanted a friend. Someone older and wiser. Someone to look up to. Someone to boss me around. I wouldn't mind if they were cold or mean,as long as they were pure. I wouldn't be caught dead following some gryfindor round the place. I'd rather die.

Kyra was having a laugh with her friends, she spotted a young boy walk out. Her eyes followed him, he looked new, and looked like he had no idea what was happening. She decided to go and talk to him, she said goodbye to her friends and walked over to him, "Hi," She smiled at the boy. "You new?"

I looked up at the girl who came over to talk to me.''Hi'' i relpy. She looked nice enought.''Yes i just started first year'' i say trying to sound cool but the words still came out in my shy voice.

''Wow,your lots older than me'' i say thinking of the age gap. It was strange how she talked to me even thought i was a first year. But then again she probally wasn't in slytherin so i guess she talked to lots of first years.

''No, of course not, i'd love to be friends'' i say happily. She called me her friend. That made me feel good inside. So far the only people who had teased him were the people in his own year and even then it wasn't anything that bad.
