Alex walked into the Leaky Cauldron, it had been a few years since she had been here. Good times and bad times.....Looks like it's gonna be another bad time....She was happy to be back, but not since her parents just split up, she sighed and ordered a drink. She got out her money, making her way to the back of the room and sat in the corner. She sighed lightly again, taking small sips of her drink. Why now? Why to me? Why did they keep it a secret? Fuck'in parents....

I move around the room, wiping down tables a little more distractedly than usual, but still taking pleasure in the simple act of making bits of wood just a little cleaner. I hum softly and tunelessly to myself, caught up in a rhythm and my own distracting thoughts, until suddenly I back into a table. "Oh, I'm sorry..." I say softly, whirling around to see if there's anyone there.

Alex sighed softly but put a small smile on for the girl. "It's okay, not your fault" She said quielty, but loud enough for her to hear.

I smile in relief and start to turn away... but something in her expression or body language keeps me there. "Are you okay?" I ask softly, tilting my head toward her in concern and hoping that I'm not being too nosy.

I smile and nod sympathetically, leaning slightly on the table with my sleeves pushed up and a damp rag under my hand. "Changes can be hard," I say softly. "But sometimes they're a good thing, even if it doesn't seem like it at first." ((Okay... really have to go now. Hope to see you later.))

"I wish" Alex nodded, sighing. "But I don't think your parents splitting up will be a good thing" She sighed again, taking a gulp of her drink.
{{Aww, okay, me too. Bye.}}

No, my parents being very slowly fed to a dragon would be a better thing, I think, not sure what to say for a moment. "You never really know," I say instead, still looking sympathetic. "Did it come as a surprise?"

I grimace sympathetically. "Well... sometimes people hide things really well, and maybe it is for the best," I say. "I don't know if that helps or not, but maybe things will look up. Just give it some time," I shrug.

"It's no problem," I say, smiling slightly and shaking my head. "That and wiping tables is what I'm on this Earth for." I roll my eyes a little self-deprecatingly, smile deepening.

"Oh, no," I shake my head. "I get to think, and watch people... I don't really get bored easy." Being locked in a small room with little human contact can do that to you.

I nod. "That's the smart one, right? The ones that value learning?" I'd read a great deal about Hogwarts when I was younger, until Meredith saw my frustrated tears and encouraged me to stop. But I still found Sorting fascinating, and liked trying to imagine which house my baby sister would wind up in.

I smile and start to reply, then pull back guardedly and look over my shoulder. "What's sweet?" I ask, thinking she must've noticed something elsewhere in the bar.

I back away again warily, wishing I could put up some sort of shield, mental or otherwise. "Are you saying you're a reader?" I ask guardedly.

I glance around the bar semi-worriedly, biting my lip. I rarely venture out into the Muggle world or even Diagon Alley, preferring to stay where it's familiar. But I don't want to be rude. "I... well, I don't even know you," I say, laughing lightly with a hint of nervousness. "What's your name?" I start wiping down a table as I speak, directing the question over my shoulder. Tom didn't mind when I talked to the customers like this, so it wasn't the amount of time I'd been idle that bothered me... I just wanted a little bit more familiarity.
