I nod, starting to turn away, then stopping with a sudden jolt of panic. "Um... what was I here for again? I can't remember and I don't suppose that I told you...?" I ask anxiously, turning towards her again.

"Oh! Right!" I say, grinning in relief as it floods back. "Yeah, I remember that now... thank you." I pause, realizing that I might sound a little odd. "Ah... I... forget things, sometimes," I explain, waving a hand vaguely at the side of my head. "Little things, like why I walked into a room. Wrong end of a memory charm a couple months back." I shrug, smiling very slightly to show it's no big deal. And it isn't, anymore. Little bits and pieces have been clicking into place for a while now, leaving only those occasional moments of panic when my short-term memory decides to wipe itself utterly clean, and a few small gaps that are probably not much different than what most people have.
