"Still a student?" I ask, ignoring the first part. Something to look forward to? Ha. I'm sticking around here for others. I'm not looking forward to anything, just getting them through.

He nods weakly, slumping down in his chair."7th year."

I nod. "S'pose that you're aware of the fact that Hogwarts isn't quite so cozy as it used to be," I mutter bitterly, taking another gulp of firewhiskey and regretting it.

"No, really? Hadn't noticed." Perry replies, voice dripping with sarcasm."Course I did, my cousin had to take his younger sisters out of school it's so bad."

You're a stupid fuck-up... blind as fucking bats.... I press my forehead into the heel of my hand. "Nice to know that I'm that blind," I mutter bitterly, hating myself even more. What kind of idiot had I been not to hear about the deaths, to not go looking for more information on safety at the castle before letting Andra stay? "What kind of fucking irresponsible idiot would let his sister stay there all alone when he knows perfectly damn well that someone is after his family?" I ask angrily, not realizing I'm speaking aloud.

"Your not an irresponsible idiot," Perry says, taking another swig of firewhiskey,"Your just one of the people who refuse to see how bad the worlds gotten,"

"Hm." I snort softly. "Which... would kinda make me an idiot, now wouldn't it?"

"Perhaps, or maybe just a good Samaritan who didn't want a great schools named to be tarnished."

I shake my head, frowning. slightly. "Don't know where you're getting that from.... I'm an idiot who let his little sister talk him into letting her remain in school while he went into hiding like a coward -" And to protect his other two sisters and unborn nephew, something reminds me, but I ignore it. "- even though he should've noticed all the deaths that had already happened and the fact that fucking death eaters are crawling around Hogwarts like beetles."

Perry ingores the burning sensation on his left arm,"What can I say, I'm being optomistic." Since when are you the optomist? "Lot of people have heard of the death toll, just too scared to do anything about it."

I look at him sharply. "There's gotta be somebody there, doing something." Someone from the Order... right? Or are they just in denial? I try to remember hearing something, anything, about making Hogwarts safer... but then again, I have been out of the loop for five months.

He shrugs,"Probably. But whatever they're doing just don't seem to be working."

"Obviously not," I mutter, frowning. "You say your younger cousins got pulled out of school?"

"Yeah, according to a letter I got from Noah before.." He pauses, the sick feeling rising in my stomach,"Before he died..said he and his brother had pulled Leney and Claire, out of school for a while." He mutters, singaling for another firewhiskey."That and the family had a little meltdown, we have a habit of being together when something happens."

"Good habit," I say, nodding.

"Yeah," He mutters, not it was only half true. The family was close, just not with him.

I nod. Families should stick together, bad times or not.

"I do try," I say with a nod, glancing at him. "They got a reason for hating your guts?"

"Other then the fact they're mindless noobs?" He mutters, without thinking,"Well according to one of them it's because of my 'narrow minded view on the world,' or something like that." Perry says sarcastically, rolling his eyes.
|
|
|
Post by Andrew Foster on Dec 4, 2007 18:51:51 GMT
"What sort of narrow-minded view?" I ask. "Like calling them mindless noobs just because they don't like you?"
|

|
Post by Perry Parker on Dec 5, 2007 1:12:06 GMT
"Oh no, nothing like that," Perry mutters."They're mindless noobs 'cos of the choices they make."

I nod, thinking briefly about asking what sort of choices those might be, then deciding that not only is it none of my business but that I don't really care. Not enough to be nosy anyway.

He takes another drink, trying to drown out the annoying voice in the back of his head that was telling him he should resent his family.

It doesn't take too long to decide that I'd much rather have conversation, of just about any kind at all, than to sit here in silence. "So... what kind of choices do they make?" I ask belatedly.

"They favouring muggles kind of choices."
