"I don't know. I guess, I am happy with her. But she's been pregnant twice before and lost both of them...and my daughter...is gone now. And...I'm just not too sure about the whole baby thing at the moment...or ever."

"Understandable," She nods,"Two miscarriages is a lot for the two of you to go through, and to have another one. Truly a miracle."

"If that's what you want to call it," I reply.

"Not one for being a parent, I'm guessing?"

"No, I fuck up a lot," I laugh slightly, without humour.

"Unplanned pregnancy?"

"How'd you guess?" I mutter.

"Because when they're planned the parent shows a bit of exictment," She says,"My younger cousin's having a baby in a couple months, she's freaking out, same way you are."

"My sympathies to her then," I reply.

"I'll tell her next time I see her," She nods,"She's not one to freak out this much though, well she is but never seen her this scared before,"

"Yeah, don't blame her. It is fucking scary."

"I'm sure she'll do fine. I think you will as well. Everyone freaks out about their first child."

"Well then, you've got the upper hand on my cousin. First kid, according to her, it's twins. Poor girl."

"Twins? Yeah, ditto."

"Wow, small world," Rory mutters, tucking a loose strand of hair back,"She's positivly terrified, guessing your pretty much the same?"

"No, actually...surprisingly," I admit, "More just generally dreading it." And half planning an escape.

"Not sure if you can handle it?" Rory guesses, raising an eyebrow,"She's the same way, thinking about whether she should put them up for adoption or not."
|
|
|
Post by Ian Hunt on Nov 14, 2007 21:17:11 GMT
"Oh, no, I know I can't," I say wryly, "I have limited patience at best, especially with people who can't look after themselves, children fit that category." I look down briefly at the mention of adoption, but decide not to say anything, "Oh."

"Shouldn't second guess yourself, never know what you could do." She replies, setting her hands in her lap, fiddling with her napkin."Just breaks my heart seeing her like that, and I know it's breaking hers too. She just wants what's best for those two little boys of hers,"
|

"I think I know myself pretty well by now," I reply, then pause for a moment, "If it wouldn't be too intrusive, I'd suggest not going the adoption route. It usually doesn't end too well, or so personal experience tells me." You're one to talk... Just advice. So it's okay to give people advice you have no intention of following yourself?

"Yes, we're trying to convice her of that herself, says it's what her and her boyfriend want. It's all a bunch of bull if you ask me, god knows they don't want to give up those boys. They're just too scared to take on the responability."

"A peice of advice," Rory starts,"Stop thinking about what's best. For you, for Maddie, for the babies, start thinking instead about what you really want. The rest will just come to you." She smiles slightly,"It's a pleasure finally meeting you Ian."
