I sit at the top of the owlery, with a sour expression casted over my old worn face. "Damn where are they now..." I mutter deeply.
It's been weeks since the last time I attacked one of them, and I didn't even really torture Briar or Andra. "I need to find her, it's driving me crazy..." I say in my twisted mind.
I look up a second, thinking that I heard someone walking up the steps. I swing my cloak around me and continue to sit on the ledge, my sight looking over the scenery.

Rose hummed lightly to herself under her breath as she made her way up to the owlery, clutching a letter in her hand. She intended to write to her brother, seeing as none of the rest of the family spoke to him anymore, Gryffindor scum or some such. If only they could see the sort of 'Gryffindor scum' she was in love with. She smiled slightly, unable to stop herself even with the thought of having to marry Cal hanging over her, the thought of Jack still made her smile. She paused momentarily in the doorway as she saw someone else was there, then offered him a brief polite smile, before making her way over to the owls.

I try to smile at the young girl, but it turns to a grimace. "Hello my dear...you shouldn't be out when it's this cold..." I say searching for a sweet kind voice in me, but fail.

She smiled a little in response, although the tone made her uneasy. He sounded sort of like Cal, when he was trying to get what he wanted. She drew her coat tighter around herself, almost instinctively. "It's lucky I don't intend to be out for long then," She smiled weakly.

"Ah, pity...I was trying to find someone who might be able to help me..." I whisper softly to her, revealing a more convincing smile.

Rose relaxed slightly, face softening. She couldn't resist people who needed help. "And what might you need help with?" She asked.

"I need to find my family, specifically my daughter, Shelby..." I say her name as if it was poison, but I cover it up with a smile. "I was on a 'mission' for years, I don't know where they are..." I lie somewhat.

The name Shelby sounded reasonably familiar, and she recalled speaking to her in the astronomy tower briefly, but didn't mention this, knowing it wasn't her place to. "I'm sorry, I don't think I can help you. I wouldn't know where to find your family."

"You took a little too long to answer that..." I say placing a hand on my wand secretively. "Now, are you sure?" I say my kind tone fading.

"I'm sure, yes," She nodded, once again put back at unease. She wouldn't know where to find Shelby, having only spoken to her once, but now he was reacting this way, she was all the more determined to keep the limited and useless information she did have, to herself.

I glare at the girl. "Fine then..." I say looking at the scenery. "So, what's your name?" I ask her.

"Rose," She replied, then paused for a moment before adding, "Might I be so bold as to ask you yours?"

"Thomas Faden." I lie to her.

"Pleasure to meet you Thomas," She replied, tone unreadable. She'd mastered that when she was 12. Sometimes it was best people didn't know what she was thinking.
