Rabastan couldn't help but look for books that he knew weren't there, always suspicious that the ever-careful Order or one of the faculty would make a little slip up. He wanted to know more of the forbidden magics, more of things forbidden by the Order that he wasn't supposed to know. He was, after all, a Lestrange, and those of his fine and proud bloodline were known to know things that they weren't supposed to, and find out that what they didn't know.
He ignored most of the others, figuring them not worth his time at the moment. Most of them were half-bloods anyway, or of some unknown origin that he didn't care about. Snorting, he turned back to the bookshelves after his brief look around, paranoia not leaving him alone about it. He always had to see who was where and doing what. Besides, he was sure that other pure bloods would like nothing more then to stab him in the back to rise to power as he would like to stab them to achieve the same.
This was, after all, still a war.

I sat near the back of the room looking at the paranoid kid looking at every one. I smirked and started to read a book from the forbidden section, I covered it with a larger book making it look like I was reading something about History of Magic."

Scanning the Library he finally found who he was looking for. Rabastan was scanning books, probably looking for some dark book that wasn't going to be there. His paranoia probably kept him as wary as ever but Rodolfus was confident he hadn't been seen yet.
Walking quickly but quietly up behind his younger brother, Rodolfus let his hand drop onto the younger boy's shoulder. It was a trick he learned from his father that intimidated and showed who held the position of power.
"Hello Rabastan." Rodolfus couldn't help but smirk at the chaos this was bound to make in his younger brother's head. Everyone who snuck up on Rabastan usually got hexed but to hex his older and much more experienced brother would be a huge mistake. The fact that Rabastan had been caught off guard in a public place would probably piss him off as well.

Jumping a little at the hand on his shoulder, Rabastan's mind whirled with the possibilities of who it could be as well as thinking of something that would defend him from any attack that was forced upon him. However, the voice of his elder brother snapped him out of his thoughts of how to defend himself, and allowed his mind to curse itself. How could he have been so stupid as to miss Rodolfus in this room?
"What do you want," Rabastan snapped, quickly giving him a glare before turning back to his browsing. "I never thought that you'd bother with me since you usually have something better to set your sights on. Are you truly that bored at the moment that you must put yourself in the danger of finding yourself in a hex?"

"Sneaking up on people isnt a nice thing to do," I tell him putting down the book I was thinking of looking at.

"Says the Ravenclaw." I say closing my book. I walk past one of the slytherins. "I think this is what you wanted." I say giving them the book.

Glancing coldly at the Ravenclaw Rodolfus scowled. "This is a family conversation. If I had wanted you involved I would have asked you to join. As I have not, do yourself a favor and leave."
Looking back at his brother Rodolfus kept scowling. "I have gotten some important information. Apparantly our father had a disagreement with someone that ended badly. He's recieving medical attention now but it doesn't look hopeful." He knew his brother would catch onto his veiled meanings about their father fighting an Auror and the Dark Lord's medical care being less than adequate.

Snorting, at both the other Slytherin and his brother. His father was dying? Served the old man right. He wasn't very careful in his opinion and therefore got what he deserved. He wasn't surprised, but a little worried about the family name now. So...what happened now? Was there a will? There better had be one, he thought. They didn't need vultures scattering around at this trying time.
"Serves him right," Rabastan replied, acting coldly. There were too many people around to really be able to talk about this properly. Rodolfus should have at least figure that out. "Knowing him he wasn't careful enough, however it is a trying time. It is sad to know that he may soon be passing, however, there are details of the estate that need to be taken care of, or are they already taken care of?"

Glancing at the book Rodolfus nodded in appreciation. It was a highly restricted book because of it's controversial issues but it was a good read. Holding it out to his brother he continued their conversation, knowing that Rabastan wanted nothing to do with this.
"The estate shall pass to mother until my 18th birthday where I will assume control. I just thought that I should inform you that our... debts, need to paid and we will be expected to do so. As to whether or not father deserved it I don't know. I do know that more responsibility will fall to you, much faster then we had intended." Rodolfus wished there was somewhere more secure to talk about this but out in the open and in code was the best way not to arouse suspicion. He hoped his brother understood that he was telling him his time to recieve the dark mark was coming. Soon all the Lestrange would be among the ranks of the Death Eaters.

Idly looking at the book before tucking it under his arm, Rabastan looked at the girl, nodding a quick thanks. He rarely did, but his excitement at the prospect of joining the family in their conquests of the Death Eaters was too overwhelming. Oh has he waited for the day so long! But he had to be careful, even moreso now. He had an idea that others were waiting for him to receive his mark and attack then. Caution was needed, not wild acting. Caution, planning, cunning, and most of all deceit. All things his family seemed to excel in.
"I understand," Rabastan muttered to Rodolfus. "However, that leads you into a very tough position yourself. Mother would wish for a marriage and fast. No easy way around that."

He had also considered this. The day of his graduation would probably also be a wedding, and he was not looking forward to that. "There are a few... prospects. Our family name is more concerning though. We will both be expected to achieve great things in our chosen fields. I'm wondering if you can do that with your new responsibilities."
Usually Rodolfus didn't make veiled threats to his brother but the seriousness of the situation had went up. Now that most of Rodolfus' time was going to be dedicated to the Death Eaters it was up to Rabastan to keep the family name in high esteem.

"I am pretty sure that I can deal with it," Rabastan snapped back. "I'm not a half blood after all, nor one of the lower ranked wizards! I know what will be expected of me and I have every bit of confidence that I will excel where you have for so long. I am not weak."
It was true. Cautious, yes, weak hell no. He was a Lestrange! There was no such thing as a weak Lestrange after all. He knew that one day, such obligations would be piled upon him, but never expected it to be so soon. However, life had a funny way of doing things, and he had to take up the challenge that was set before him. Because he was who he was, and who he was defeated challenges instead of let them conquer him.

Satisfied that he was understood Rodolfus let the topic drop. This was just supposed to be a message delivery after all and they had talked too long. Letting his icy gaze meet Rabastan's angry eye's he let him know they were finished.
"I am glad you are not too troubled by the news and know what is expected of you. If he does in fact pass, we will recieve an official owl tomorrow morning. If you have no other questions I will let you continue you're slacking."

Slacking? Him? Pah. Yes, he wasn't exactly perfect, but neither was Rodolfus. Turning back to the bookshelf, he glanced at the book he had in his arm, wondering if he wanted to read it now or later. Now seemed like a good as time as any.
"I will be waiting then," Rabastan replied, walking away towards a secluded table. "Now if you excuse me, I have a few things to attend to. Unlike yourself who is wandering around Hogwarts with apparently no direction at all."

Hayley watches the Lestranges talk, though more like argue, over the top of her book. She finishes the last page and walks over to them, so she could put the book away.

Smirking he watched as his brother walked away. He would make a good Lestrange with his infallible coolness. He was worried about his younger brother but he wouldn't show it. Showing attachment, even to his family, was a weakness and Lestrange's didn't have weaknesses.
His brother's retreating back was soon replaced by a girl replacing a book. Staring at her he smiled slightly. He could do with a little free time before his duties for the Dark Lord began. He continued to stare at her, his usual impassive look on his face, waiting for her to make the first move.

Hayley turns back around, another book at hand, and sees one of the Lestranges-Rodolfus she believed- staring at her with an impassive look. She smirks and, deciding to play around, walks up to him. "Hello" She says in a flirty tone.

It had been a long time since any girl had really flirted with him. It was probably sending that mud-blood Ravenclaw to the hospital wing in 5th year that turned them all off.
Nodding slightly he kept his face blank. "Hello."

Rodolfus mentally sighed. He really should be working on getting a suitable wife right now in order to recieve his inheritance but instead here he was with this girl flirting with him. It was not in his nature to flirt. He was straightfoward and goal oriented. And that was how he would act. If she was still interested in spite of his stoicism then so be it.
"Rodolfus. And yours?" He was pretty sure it was Hayley but better to be safe and ask her.

Bellatrix had been watching the scene unfold from around a corner, through a bookshelf. She had been to far away to hear most of the conversation, only picking up bits and pieces, but expressions alone could say a lot. Rodolfus, for example, she could read like a book. They had known eachother a long while. Like most pure blood families, their parents had been sure to keep the blood lines pure from the very beggining.
He was keeping his face emotionless, Bella knew he was probably trying to hide something... talking in code most likely. She'd figure out what eventually.
She seemed to tense up when she saw the girl enter. Bella was the only girl in their little 'group' except for occasionly Cissa, but that was different, they were sisters. She instantly didn't like this girl. Slytherin or not. And she deffinitely did not like her flirty attitude. Bellatrix had taken two steps towards them when she noted the girl's posture change abruptly... instantly making her dislike this girl, whoever she was even more.
Bella held her head high as she continued towards them, pausing to shoot a tiny glare at the girl when she purposly knocked shoulderswith her. Ignoring the girl, she continued straight to Rodolfus and greeted him with a simple, "Hello Rodolfus." Still acting as if the girl wasn't two feet from her.

She glares a moment at Bellatrix. "Well hello to you too" She replies dryly. She didnt like her one bit. Maybe even more so than the girl from the common room.

Bellatrix looked over her shoulder at the girl, looking at her as if she hadn't seen her there in the first place. "Do I know you?" She asked, keeping her face unreadable. This question was only half a cover up, Bellatrix didn't like speaking to people she was unformilar with unless neccessary... you never know who's working for who or who's telling who what these days.
