Piper looked around nervously, eyeing each person that went by carefully. She still had the small cut going across her throat. Piper had her back to the wall, seeing as she didn't feel like walking around. She looked around again, and saw that no one else was in the Entrance Hall, and she let out a greatful sigh. Piper closed her eyes and leaned her head against the wall behind her. She couldn't believe how close she was to loseing everything. On the bright side, you now don't have to go home now. Healers said you shouldn't go around anything that would bring extra 'emotional stress' She chuckled softly to herself as she thought. It was a bitter chuckle. Just then she heard footsteps coming towards her, getting louder with each moment. She took a deep reath and told herself to relax inside her thoughts.

Gabriel walked into the entrance hall. He had been looking round the castle, seeing if anything had changed since his stay here. Not much had, but there was definately a darker feel to it. Or that might have just been his over-active imagination, now he knew some of the horrors that had happened, especially in the last year. He sighed and shook his head. Many of the children that had started this year had already turned into an adults, because of the things that had happened to them, and it wasn't fair.
Like what's happened to Izzybelle. It's not fair.
He noticed a young woman sitting with her back against the wall, he heard her quiet but very bitter sounding chuckle. She looked small and broken, and he didn't like that. It made him think that it might be the way his cousin will look when he finally gets to see her. He walked towards the girl, making his footsteps loud, so she would hear him coming, he didn't want to startle her. "Are you alright?" He asked softly, crouching down next to her, a concerned look on his face.

Piper studied his face for a few moments. Notthing seemed wrong with him, he seemed truely concered for her. Piper considered saying flat out no. But she didn't. "I'll be okay." She muttered, bringing one of her knees to her chest.

"Don't worry, I'm not a psycho or anything." Gabriel smiled warmly and reassuringly at her as she studied his face. He doubted he had the ability to be a threat to anyone. Except for the death-eaters he was ordered to duel of course, but that was part of his job. Otherwise, he wouldn't hurt a fly.
Even a very annoying one.
"Are you sure?" He asked, she didn't particularly look okay. He noticed a small cut that ran across her throat. But he didn't ask her about it, he didn't want to pry into her business. If she wanted to tell him anything he would let her do so on her own accord.

Piper smiled weakly back at him. It was something she always did. Piper loved it when people smiled. She loved it when people were happy. But when she saw his eyes drift downward to her throat, her smile faded slowly. "I-I don't know." She sighed, looking away from him now. She didn't know if she wanted to, or if she even should tell him. You don't even know his name She stayed silent, still looking down, her hair falling into her face.

Gabriel's smiled broadened when she smiled back at him. It was only a small smile, but it was a start. But his smile fell as soon as hers did. At her reply he felt like hugging her. But it might have freaked her out a bit. She just seemed so broken. Like she couldn't cope with things anymore. It was heartbreaking for him. He hated seeing people look so sad.
Better tell her your name before you have anymore urges to hug her, jerk.
"I'm being extremely rude, sorry you don't even know my name. I'm Gabriel, Gabriel Hart." He said quickly, feeling bad that he hadn't introduced himself sooner. He didn't like feeling like a stranger to someone.

Piper nodded and looked back at him, her hair still falling n her face. "Piper Becker." She said running her hand up and down her leg lightly. She saw that he was still crouching. "You can sit if you want..." Piper muttered, looking briefly to the empty spaces next to her. "Don't worry. I'm normally extremely rude, and loud. It's fine." She said with a very small, weak smile up at him. It just wasn't natural for her to be this quite. This still. This...everything she was now. Piper had to put some attempt at getting back to normal. And as quick as she could.

"Nice to meet you Piper." Gabriel smiled at her. His smile widening slightly at her next comment. He shifted himself so he was able to sit down cross-legged opposite her, it was easier for him to talk to her properly then if he sat next to her. It was easier to see her facial expressions. In his mind seeing someone's expression when they spoke gave him more of an idea of what they were really trying to tell him.
So complicated sometimes.
He noticed the very small upturn in her lips. It was only a small smile, but it was enough to get him grinning again. "That's great. Another loud person i can talk to. I'm loud aswell, you usually can't shut me up. As you can probably tell already." He replied and chuckled to himself slightly.

"Nice to meet you to." Piper responded looking over at him, with a small smile as he sat down next to her. "Nah, I don't want to shut you up." She said. "You'll be looking for duck tape once I really start talking." She said. Piper was still talking a bit soft, but it was only because her throat was hurting her slightly. Piper couldn't tell, but she probably sounded slight hoarse. She stopped holding her knee to her chest, and looked over at him, tucking a stand of hair behind her ear to get the hair out of her face. Gabriel laughed at her words. "I'm glad because neither do i, i can't stand being quiet." He grinned at her. "Nah i wouldn't, I'd just be happy that I'd found someone who could talk as much as i can." He replied with a small chuckle. "And anyway if you're as talkative as me, duck tape wouldn't stop you." He said with a smile and a small wink.
Ha ha, remember they tried that once.
He chuckled again at his own thoughts, and smiled at Piper. He wondered what had happened to her. It must have been pretty bad. Barely anything could leave him speechless, apart from something truly terrible. A girl like Piper didn't deserve anything like that. It made him sad that so many Innocent people were getting hurt, and he wanted to help.

Piper smiled at him. "Yeah I'll be talking to you a lot." She said looking up at him. "Got that right. Duck tape doesn't stand a chance against me." She said with a small smile. Piper looked down for a few moments. What harm would it do? She sat there and looked back up at him. "Someone...Someone tried to slit my throat...And I'm really afraid right now." She muttered, knowing he was wondering. "I just don't know what to do, and...I just don't know."

"That's good then, because i like talking to you." Gabriel smiled at her. It was true, even though she said she wasn't acting herself. He could see what lay beneath the broken mask. A nice, friendly, talkative girl. Just like him.
Apart from the girl part.
Gabriel gasped slightly at her next words. He couldn't understand why someone would want to hurt. Not only that, but kill her. The news truely shocked him. "Okay, you may think i'm weird because you've only just met me, but i think you need this." He said and moved himself so he could wrap his arms around her in a comforting hug. "I'm really not a pervert. Just to let you know." He reassurred her. "I can't believe someone would do that to you. Why?"

Piper wrapped her arms around him lightly and laid her head on his shoulder. "I don't think you're a pervert...Yeah I needed this." She muttered staying in his arms. She felt safe. "I don't know why he did it. It was late, I was walking around, I was talking to him..Then he-...He-..."

"That's alright then, i didn't want to freak you out or anything." Gabriel smiled and squeezed her lightly. The hug was comforting for him as well. It was the same kind of hug he wanted to give to his cousin when he saw her. A welcoming and reassurring hug, one that would tell them both that everything's going to be okay.
But it never is...
Gabriel's face darkened as he thought of the guy that had done this to Piper. "What's his name?" He asked as casually as he could, trying to surpress the rage in his voice, because it certainly wasn't Piper he was angry at.

"You freak me out? Please." Piper said with a very small smile, to let him know she was kidding. Piper knew she was probably makeing him feel weird, but she didn't want to let go. She felt safe and she wanted that so muhc. It was the first time Piper had felt safe in a while. "I don't know his name...From what I asked around it was probably Heightinton. Something along those lines." Piper said. That was what the healers had said, that it was something that sounded like him. Give a fake name then leave the person for dead. ((Sorry. Computer crashed))

"Well, my other enthusiasm and want to make people feel better has sometimes scared people." Gabriel laughs quietly. "I just want to help people. I can't stand sad faces, they make me feel sad too, and i don't particually like being sad. But i don't think anyone does." He shrugged slighlty.
You just like spreading the love, don't cha.
Gabriel's jaw clenched. He'd heard of that name before. The guy was aparently a very highly thought of in the deatheater ranks, and that made Gabriel immediately dislike him. Deatheaters were all murderers in his eyes. "Don't worry, i won't let him hurt you again." He comforted Piper, giving her another light squeeze.

"That doesn't scare me." Piper said. "I like it, in fact." She smiled up at him. "I like to make people laugh. Like hearing people laugh." She said. Piper did like that. Piper didn't just like it though, she loved doing that. She loved seeing that glem in someones eyes as they laughed. Made her feel great. Piper nodded and looked down slightly. She hoped Gabriel knew how much she would appraciate it. She did. "Thank you..." She said softly and let one arm away from him, but stayed close. "What house were you in?" She asked him, changing the subject a bit to make it lighter. Piper could tell he was to old to still go here, or at least she assumed.

"That's great!" Gabriel beamed. "I love making people laugh too. Together we can make each other chortle our socks off." He grinned at her. Laughter to him was like music to his ears. It lifted him up as if he was on a high. It was almost addictive. Like a drug. But a very good one at that. One that had no side effects.
Drugs are bad you know.
"No problem." He replied with a smile. He was glad to have been of any help and reassurrance. He hope he had made her feel save. He had guessed that's what she had needed after her terrible orrdeal.
You would need reassuring too if someone had tried to kill you.
"Ravenclaw. I'm apparently smart you see." Gabriel chuckled. He knew he was smart, but sometimes it was fun to pretend that he was. "But i've been graduated for a few years now, i'm starting to feel old." He joked.
"What about you, what house did you used to be in?" He asked, guessing that she had graduated now as well.

"Yep. We're gonna have a blast together." She smiled lightly up at him. She smiled, looking up at him for a few moments. Just looking. She smiled again and looked down letting hair fall to cover her face. "Yeah. I graduated a bit ago to." She said, "I was a Hufflepuff." She said and paused. "What are Hufflepuffs supposed to be again?" She chuckled softly. "I honestly don't know." "I know. I feel pretty old at times. And kinda of...I don't know. All these girls that are only 17 18, and already have a family and all." She said looking around slightly. Just looking. "But I'm 21." Piper knew what she felt when she saw women like Molly, who had children. She was a bit jealous. She wanted a baby. Piper wanted her own family. That didn't mean she wasn't happy for those girls. She just wished she had what they had.

"We are aren't we." Gabriel smiled back. "We're like to peas in a pod." He added with a small chuckle. He knew that him and Piper had a lot in common and would definately get on very well.
Because we're both awesome.
"Hmmm Hufflepuffs. Loyal and hard-working i think." He replied with a grin. "I know Ravenclaw's are supposed to be witty, but i certainly am not." He laughed quietly. "You're 21? Snap! We can both be the odd ones out among these students, together." He grinned. "But it is pretty amazing that so many of the students here have families. I'm well jealous. I can't wait to have one of my own. I love kids." He beamed.

Piper laughed softly. First time she had laughed, and really laughed. "Yep. Or as my dad says, 'We're Peas and Carrots'..." She smiled. She liked Gabriel. He was sweet. And he liked a lot of things she did. She knew that even being near him was going to be awesome. "I'm loyal. Guess I work hard. Depends on what it is, in somethings." She said. "But I'm loyal. I know that." She said. "Yeah we'll totally be the odd ones out together." She smiled lightly. "I know, I'm jealous to." Piper admitted because, seeing as he admitted it to. "I want to have everything be great. Find a guy I really love, marry him in a nice white dress, and have kids with him." She told him ."That is the one thing I've always wanted."

Gabriel grinned as she smiled. She had a very nice smile, and it was nice for him to see it for the first time. it was also something that he'd like to see more often. At her next comment he laughed loudly. The sound of it echoed off the stone walls of the entrance hall.
You like laughing don't you.
"Well loyalty is very important. It shows that you would never betray your friends, therefore it shows that you are extremely trustworthy. So i'll have to come to you if i have a secret i want to tell someone." He smiled widely. "I think being odd is better than fitting in. It makes you more noticable." He added with a small grin.
You're noticable whether you're odd or not.
"Same here, but with the opposite gender. Although i'm sure i'd look fabulous in a white wedding dress, i don't think i should wear one. I may take the attention away from my future wife on our wedding day if i do." Gabriel joked. "But i have always wanted to find someone i could spend the rest of my life with. I've always, always wanted kids. I just love them and can't wait to have my own." He finished with a smile.

"I know. I'm very funny." She smiled up at him. "Just to add on my awesome scale." She said looking up at him and tucked the extra hair behind her ear finally letting him see her face. Her eyes were still slightly red but for the most part she looked liked she always did. Piper liked seeing him smile.
"Yep. Friends are family for me. Mean the world to me." She said, "Oh yeah. Keep it our dirty little secret." She said with a small smile and looked up at him with a half smirk. "Oh yeah. Being odd is also much more fun."
"Yes. Might even put me for a run for my money in a white dress." She said only teaseing him. Piper nodded. "How many do you want?"

"Yeah, you're awesome scale is getting pretty high now." Gabriel chuckled. "But i'm afraid mine towers over yours because it's so full of awesomeness." He teased with a cheeky grin and flicked his hair out his eyes, it was getting pretty long now, but he didn't feel like having it cut.
Even though it annoys you so much.
He grinned at her flirty comment and winked at her in response.
Cheeky.
"Oh you know i would, it would so flatter my figure." He joked and laughed loudly at the insane image. "I think i want at least five. I want a big family." He replied with a big smile. He had always imagined living in a cosy house with his wife, and many children. He could imagine coming back from work and having them all there waiting for him to come and them.

"Yeah right." She said with a playful grin, so he'd know she was joking. "I'm totally awesome. Much more awesome than you"
She winked back at him, and smiled up at him.
"I think I want at least four. Maybe more. I'm not sure." She said. In her mind she saw herself, with a wedding ring on her hand and her in the house. Kids running around. Some of them looked like her. She would make dinner and kiss her husband when he got home. Piper wanted something perfect.

Gabriel chuckled. "You wish." He grinned back at her. His grin widened still at her wink. She was cute, and he was glad to see her personality really come through. It made him forget the image of her when he first saw her. He didn't like that image, because it wasn't really what she was like. Someone else had caused her to look like that.
That someone is going to pay.
"Big family too then?" He smiled. It was someone like Piper that he wanted to get married to. Someone bubbly and fun and talkative. Someone else that wanted a house full of children.

Piper chuckled softly. "Nope. You come in second, but I am the most awesome." She grinned. Piper's grin wided as his did because of her wink. He's not that bad Piper.
"Yeah, and in a big house. Won't really care if it's not the nicest. Lots of kids, in a big house." She told him. "That's what I want. Most guys think I'm too crazy to date let alone marry, or the ones that don't can't keep up with me and are boreing." She chuckled. "Maybe my standards are to high I guess."

"First the worst, second the best, third the one with the hairy chest." Gabriel recited with a lopsided grin and a small chuckle. Belle had always used that one on him when they argued about being the best at something.
You did let her win though.
"Piper, your standards could never be too high. I think you're aiming too low." He smiled at her. "I think i just scare girls away with my eagerness for a family. Though usually it's the other way round. I should be running from overly eager girls." He joked.

"Yeah...Well.." She chuckels trying to think of something to say "Well first is the first which is one and they say one is the best, so nuh." Was her award winning comback. She chuckled at herseld softly and stuck her tounge out at him slightly. "I win...Maybe." She smiles.
She smiled up at him. "Just want a guy that wants kids and won't just want to mess around, and will actually stick around for a while. Be nice and sweet and let me know how feels. That's all I need." She tells him. She chuckled softly at his joke. "Doesn't scare me away" She smiles up at him. "Yeah most guys do run, but it's not set in stone." She says, "I think it's great that you want a family. More than great."

"Fine, fine. I'll let you win. But only because I'm such a gentleman." Gabriel laughed. "And because you're just so insistent, even though your comeback made no sense." He added jokily.
You always let girls win.
"It seems like we're each others perfect future spouses." He joked, grinning at her with a small chuckle. "We both want to settle down and have big families."
