"Keeps getting that way though," I shrug. "I mean, seems like lots of people are just going in circles... and spending most of the time on the bottom. If my eavesdropping is accurate that is. And it can't always have been like this or the world would've wiped itself out by now."

"No, it's the war. When it's over...then things are going to be okay again," I say, although I wasn't sure that was the truth anymore. At one point, I'd determinedly believed that and nothing else, it just didn't seem to be able to work that way and now it was said just for the sake of saying something optomistic.

"Or start to be anyway," I mutter, shrugging, then glance at him. "Unless your side wins, that is," I add, shivering slightly at the thought.

I pause a moment, "Well, whatever happens, I'm pretty much screwed, right? I mean, the other side wins...probably Azkaban unless they take the reformed card. Er...'my' side wins, and everyone's pretty much screwed," I shrug, "Can't say Azkaban is a particularly appealing prospect but..." I shrug again.

I glance at him, then look down at my fingers. "Haven't you got anyone in the Order who could put in a good word for you?" I ask, not even knowing if he deserves one or not. "I mean... since you didn't really join up by choice?" Nobody ought to go to Azkaban unless they really, really deserve it.

"Yeah, I guess a couple of people in the Order...but there are more who'd...whole-heartedly support me being sent to Azkaban," I shrug, "What happens, happens though. Played for and got, karmic justice as you believe."
Post by Arden Patricks on Oct 20, 2007 3:21:29 GMT
I shake my head. "Karmic justice wouldn't send you to Azkaban." I hope. "Not that I have any idea what I'm talking about," I mutter. And probably don't want to know. "You seem decent though... I don't know." I laugh slightly. "If it were up to me I'd probably send maybe five people to Azkaban."

I laugh slightly, "Good job it's not up to you then...no disrespect meant. I just think there's a fair few more than five that deserve to be there." Myself included...not that I'm aiming to be put there.

"Probably right," I shrug, smiling slightly. "It just... seems too harsh a punishment for anyone who's still got half a soul."

"If you're compassionate," I smile slightly, "I'd have no trouble, to be honest. And I don't think it's a half a soul thing...everyone has a whole soul...just some our broken, fragmented."

"Well... half a decent soul, then, I don't know... figure of speech," I shrug, then pause. "You're not being literal, are you?"
Post by Ian Hunt on Oct 22, 2007 17:20:45 GMT
"Yeah, I'm being literal," I nod, trying to find the words to elaborate and then deciding she probably wouldn't want to know anyway and deciding not to bother.

I nod back, slowly, vaguely recalling having heard somewhere that murder makes your soul break. I'd always thought it was a fairy tale though. I frown slightly, trying to think of a change in subject.

"Sorry, you probably didn't want to hear that," I mumble, pinching the bridge of my nose briefly, a mannerism that had stuck from somewhere.

"If I can't keep my mouth shut or curiosity under control, I've got to live with the consequences, right?" I shrug. "Besides... I'm too naive. 'Bout time I opened my eyes."
Post by Ian Hunt on Oct 23, 2007 16:11:23 GMT
"Not to that...it's better to stay naive than open your eyes to that. Denial beats the fuck out of life sometimes."

"Guess so," I shrug. "Until it all comes crashing in you. And then you're really screwed because you don't know how to deal with anything."

"Yeah, that is the downside of living in denial, I suppose. Pretty sweet until then, I guess."

I tilt my head in acknowledgement, shrugging, unable to think of anything to say.

I look down at the floor, running out of things to say.

And this is weird... again. I whistle a few awkward notes through my teeth, then stop when I notice how shrill they sound.

"Awkward..." I murmur.

"Maybe a little," I mutter, tipping my head in agreement. I laugh slightly. "I still can't believe that I hated you just a few days ago. And was scared of you within the last hour."

I laugh slightly, "You don't hate me or are scared of me now, right?"

"If so I wouldn't really be talking to you now," I say, shaking my head. "Or I might be talking to you, but it would involve a lot of venom or a very squeaky voice." I smile slightly.

I smile slightly, "Ah, okay that's a relief I guess."

I nod. "Can't be especially fun to be hated, or know that people are scared of you," I shrug.

"You'd be surprised. It can be quite amusing."

"Amusing?" I ask with a disbelieving laugh, raising my eyebrows. "How so?"

Post by Ian Hunt on Oct 27, 2007 14:17:18 GMT
"Not all the time. The people that avoid you if they're scared or hate you, not funny, but not bothersome either. The people that try to use it against you or get you back and fail miserably, that's quite amusing."
