Gabriel trotted down the stone steps of the castle that led him outside at a steady pace. He was incredibly bored and he felt that a stroll outside would hopefully entertain him a bit.
You're easily amused.
He held his head up as he stepped outside, and looked at the sky. It looked like it was going to rain, though the small patches of blue that were still visible in between the grey clouds were promising.
You don't feel like walking in the rain do you?
He pulled her black cloak around himself a bit tighter, as a cool breeze swept around him, ruffling his hair as he walked. He didn't really know where he was going, but just let his feet lead the way.
So wise of you.
As the tall stands of the quidditch pitch came into view he grinned broadly. He loved flying. Unfortunately he didn't have his broom on him, and couldn't be bothered to go back and get it. But he hoped someone else would be flying so he could watch.

After sitting in the stands for a long time, I start to get bored of watching an empty pitch. But only start to. There was nothing better to do with my time. The curiously blank pitch is marginally more fascinating than the ceiling at home or the boys dorms. You're a sad simple creature. Yeah, but content to be so. I sigh softly after a few more long moments, getting to my feet and jumping easily onto the next row of stands, walking along the bench and keeping my eyes on the posts as if they're about to do something. Nearly slipping, I stop where I am for a moment, looking down at the wet bench like it's only just appeared there, then shrug a little to myself and carry on. Now my eyes are fixed on the sky and the clouds that look like they're ready to burst.

Gabriel walked towards the stands. Even though no one was flying today, he just felt like sitting about and doing nothing. Maybe finding someone to talk to. He walked into one the the stands and started up the long flight of steps up to the top. He wondered if anyone else would be up there. He seriously doubted it. Watching an empty pitch was an unusual thing to do.
But loads of the kids here are pretty unusual, just like you. You fit in perfectly.
Gabriel secretly agreed with the thought. He quite liked it being back at Hogwarts. There were loads of people to talk to, most of them with similar personalities to his own. He did fit in.
Peas in a pod.
He reached the top of the stairs and looked around. He was still quite surprised to see someone else up here. He watched the other guy for a moment, anxious that he might slip and fall, it was a long way down. "Careful." He called out, trying not to startle the guy, but knowing his attempt would probably fail.

I jump, hearing a voice from further up and nearly slipping again. I glance down, at the drop, and laugh softly. That would not be good for you. Glancing round at the guy who'd shouted, "You trying to kill me or something?"

Gabriel chuckled slightly at the other guy's response. "Hey, i said be careful. Sorry to startle you, just didn't want you flying off the edge of the stand." He smiled. That would have been bad. He was not much of a healer so he wouldn't be much help if that had happened, that's if the guy had even survived the fall.
I doubt it.
He walked towards him. "I'm not the one that was risking my life in the first place." He joked. "I'm Gabriel by the way, Gabriel Hart." He introduced himself and held out a hand for the other guy to shake. "Sorry again for scaring you." He grinned. He was sorry, but he was just in a good mood, so obviously couldn't stop smiling, meaning it was difficult for him to look sincere. But that was usual for Gabriel.

I look at him cautiously, eyes falling on his hand without shaking it while I try and discern whether he's being sincere or not. Then decide there's no harm and shake his hand, "Ian Hunt. And it's alright, don't worry about it."

Gabriel watches as Ian hesitates to shake his hand. That was a smart move, you never know who you're going to meet, and what they could do. Even though Gabriel himself was harmless he liked to see people be wary around him, and hoped that they were like that when meeting anyone.
You can never be too careful.
Gabriel shook Ian's hand firmly and grinned. "Nice to meet you Ian." He smiled. "Thanks, i don't know what i would have done if you had fallen. I wouldn't want that on my shoulders." He admitted. "And i'm sure i would have many people hate me if i had caused your death." He added sheepishly.

I can't help but snort softly with laughter, "I'm sure if anyone hated you for that, they'd be greatly outnumbered by people who were grateful." I pause, deciding this isn't a comversation track that I really want to follow, "Haven't seen you around before. You look older than a student though. Let me guess...visiting graduate or new professor?"

Post by Gabriel Hart on Dec 9, 2007 21:11:41 GMT
"I'm sure you're not that widely hated, and even if you are. They'd still be those people who missed you and would come to get me." Gabriel shrugged fairly with a small smile on his lips.
Anyway, off the subject of death.
"You are correct. I'm a visiting graduate, but i'll probably be here for a while. I've been sent here to look after my cousin. Glad i was too, she's a bit of a mess." He replied honestly with anouther small shrug of the shoulders. "I'm guessing you still go here, simply because you said i looked too old to go here. But you look like one of the older ones, so i'm assuming you're in your seventh year?"

"Yeah, seventh year," I nod, contemplating whether to add that I was a snake but deciding against it for the moment. Not yet. "What year is your cousin in?" I ask, vaguely interested in whether I know who they are or not.

Post by Gabriel Hart on Dec 9, 2007 21:51:38 GMT
"Same as you, seventh." Gabriel replied. "She's in Gryffindor. Isabella Knox." He added wondering if Ian knew her. Quite a few people knew her here, he was happy she had managed to make even more friends than she had when he still went here. He remembered in her first year she used to trail after him, scared she'd get lost if she went anywhere on her own. But there was the big problem that they had been in different houses.
Remember your disappointment when she was placed in a different house than you?
He hoped Ian knew his cousin. That way maybe he could get more of an idea of what had happened this year.

"Izzy? I know her," I nod, relaxing slightly in spite of myself. If he was anything like her at all, there didn't seem to be much of a threat here, quite the opposite. Family doesn't mean anything, remember... I try and bring my guard up again slightly, but don't quite manage. "She was the first person I met here," I add for the sake of it, as if this'd explain anything.

"That's wicked. I'm glad you do, means i can find out what she's been up to this year." Gabriel joked with a small smile, all he wanted to know was how she coped with everything that had happened and whether or not he should avoid talking to her about some topics.
Don't want to upset her. "Really? Actually i shouldn't be surprised, knowing Belle." He chuckled quietly knowing his cousin often liked to make friends as soon as someone promising showed up. "So that means you're new to Hogwarts. Well maybe not new now, but you started this year?" He guessed then shut his mouth, knowing he was talking a bit too much. Something he often did when he met new people

"Yeah, sort of new, this year," I nod, forcing back amusmant at him rambling. I laugh weakly, "Yeah, well, it's been a tough year, obviously." Then I realise that maybe he doesn't know what this means, because some people don't tell their cousins everything, so I just shrug quickly at the end of that as if it'd had been a mass tough year for everyone and not specifically her because her boyfriend died. I bet you're glad you didn't say that out loud. You and your tact skill. Be quiet.

"Yeah, i've heard about it from a few people. Had her crying on my shoulder for a while when i finally saw her." Gabriel said, trying to hide his hurt expression. He hated seeing the ones he loved upset. "But then she went into labour." He added simply. That had been quite hectic. "I know about most of the tragedys she's had this year, but not much happy stuff." He finished with a small sigh. All except for the birth of his Goddaughter, but he was here for that so it didn't count.

I force a weak smile, not sure how to respond to the first part. Then raise an eyebrow, "She went into labour? Holy shit, seriously?" I make a mental note to start paying more attention and actually catching up with friends more often than I'm doing at the moment.

Gabriel smiled. "Yeah, yesterday. I'm giving her some alone time with her daughter right now." He replied, his smile widening, his cousin seemed so happy. "But shush, no one's supposed to know yet, damnit she was right. I can't keep a secret. She wanted to tell people herself." He remembered, clamping a hand to his mouth and chuckling slightly. He guessed there was nothing he could do now, the secret was out, and Ian was Bella's friend anyway.

I laugh softly, "Secret's safe with me." "Is she okay though? What's her daughter's name?" I can't help but ask just a couple of questions, even though he's not supposed to be telling anyone.
[ooc-lmao, fair enough]

"That's alright then, i don't feel guilty about telling you then." Gabriel grinned, though he had been dying to tell someone and probably would've ended up telling a complete random if he hadn't met Ian up here. "They're both fine. She was early but perfectly healthy. Bella named her Genevieve. She said it was because two of the most important men in her life have names beginning with G. Aka me and Gideon Prewett." He said proudly. "Genevieve also has about a million middle names that i can't remember. Some Godfather i am." He added, running his hand through his hair, looking sheepish. "But she's gorgeous and tiny and the cutest little thing i've ever seen."

"That's great," I grin slightly, trying my hardest not to falter at the mention of Gid. Trying even harder to put Maddie and Alex and Aaron out of my head.

"Can't believe she beat me to it though." Gabriel chuckles softly, running his fingers through his hair. "We've both always wanted kids, but i'm older i should have been first." He jokes, sounding slightly like a stroppy five-year-old.
Such a fool sometimes.
"So what about you Ian, got a girlfriend?" He asked with a smile. He already seemed to like Ian. But then again any friend of Bella's was a friend of his.

"Ah, shame on you then," I joke, laughing slightly. I falter slightly, then nod, "Yeah, well half the time anyway. We fight a lot. Cos I'm an arrogant son of a bitch and she's a pain in the ass," I grin slightly, "You have a girlfriend? Sort of need one if you're gonna have kids."

"I know, i'm a bit gutted really." Gabriel chuckled slightly. "Ahh must be true love." He smiled, though he was being serious. If they did fight a lot and were still together they must love each other. He ran his hand through his hair and laughed softly. "Nah, i don't. But i'm sure if i was really that desperate, i could find someway to have kids." He grinned jokily. "I seem to scare many girls off when they actually get to know me."

I snort softly at the mention of true love, "Wouldn't quite say it was...that. That would...be weird." I laugh, "Good luck then. And you can't be that bad, surely?"

Post by Gabriel Hart on Dec 13, 2007 22:32:03 GMT
"Something like that then." Gabriel smiled. "You must love each other a lot if you fight a lot and yet you're still together." He added with a slight shrug, saying his thoughts out loud. "I suppose i can't be that bad. I guess i've just been busy with work up until now. I used to always be on the move, but i think i'm going to stay around here for a while." He grinned, loving the idea of helping Bella look after Genevieve.

"Yeah moving around is good, you get to see world. But you have to keep the people you're leaving behind out of your mind, otherwise you get misreble. Well i get misreble anyway. I don't like leaving my friends and family when i'm sent away." Gabriel smiled grimly, remembering the goodbyes he always had to make whenever he had to leave.
Physically painful.
"I'm an auror." He replied with a happy smile. He loved his job very much. The sense of achievement he got from it was almost a high for him.

I blink a couple of times as he says he's an auror, barely resisting the temptation to take a step away, my guard immediately firing back up again. This is why you do not trust strangers. Auror. You're such an idiot Ian. "Uh-huh," I say slowly.
|
|
|
Post by Gabriel Hart on Dec 15, 2007 23:07:33 GMT
Gabriel raised his eyebrow at Ian's response to finding out what his job was. He realised he was either talking to a deatheater or bad wizard of some sort. Or just someone that generally didn't like Aurors. He could understand the second reason. Quite a few of the other aurors he had met were incredibly arrogant, very scary, or even more paranoid then Gabriel was. He hoped that it was the latter.
Don't kid yourself mate.
Gabriel didn't want to believe that his cousin was friends with a deatheater so he pushed the thought to the back of his mind and ran his fingers through his hair. "Not an auror fan then?" He said casually.

"No," I shake my head, "Not at all really." I scratch the back of my neck awkwardly, knowing this doesn't sound all too good really, deciding I best offer an explanation. "Past experience. Once burned, twice shy," I shrug. It wasn't a complete lie...just wasn't the whole truth either.
